Sweden’s Aftonbladet has not only revealed their speculative list of Melodifestivalen acts, but also confirmed that SVT will announce the official list in a press conference on December 2nd. National final season is kicking off in earnest!

Aftonbladet’s rumoured acts

Melodifestivalen participation comes with a gag order; therefore, participants cannot announce that they are taking part until the official SVT release.

Swedish newspapers Aftonbladet and Expressen however, curates a list of rumoured participants from other sources. This year, their list includes former Melodifestivalen winners Robin Bengtsson and Sanna Nielsen, and 2024 returnees Saga Ludvigsson, Meira Omar, and Greczula, among others. K-pop artist and winner of the American Song Contest, Kim SeRi (formerly known as AlexA and Alex Christine), is also rumoured to participate.

Rumoured songwriters include Melodifestivalen and Eurovision heavyweights Thomas G:son, Fredrik Andersson, Linnea Deb, and Edward af Sillén. Aftonbladet’s expected hosts are Gina Dirawi and Hampus Nessvold. Over the last five years, Aftonbladet has correctly predicted at least 2/3 of the artist lineup each year; last year, they predicted 28 out of 30 artists.

Sweden’s Eurovision journey

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win seven times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015 and 2023).

In 2025, Sweden were represented by Finnish group KAJ, singing “Bara bada bastu”. At the close of voting in the grand final, they had received 321 points, finishing in 4th place. 126 points were received by the juries, while the trio received 195 points by televoters.
