About “New To You”
Duncan Laurence is back with new music! The Eurovision 2019 winner has today released the first single, “New To You”, from his upcoming new album. The track shows off the singer’s vocal talents in classic Duncan Laurence fashion, accompanied by strings and a piano instrumental. The chorus of the song has a modern, electronic and ethereal sound to it.
The track details the feeling of not feeling seen in the same light as you once did, no longer feeling special, and asks “What could I change?”. Duncan questions “What would it take to feel new to you?” on the chorus of this new single, and sings of longing to change for the approval of another. “New To You” is Laurence’s first release of 2026, and marks the start of a new era for the Dutch singer. It is the perfect reintroduction to Duncan Laurence’s music. The accompanying music video is also released today.
Duncan took to instagram to explain the process behind the song. The dutch singer also revealed that this is the first single of his brand new chapter, confirming a new album is on the way. Duncan says of “New To You”:
I canβt believe the moment is finally here. Itβs been a long time since I started working on this album, and right from the moment we finished itβs very first demo, I knew “New To You” had to be the first single of this brand new chapter. Iβm so happy and so thankful to have such amazing, loyal and creative people around me, who helped me bring this new chapter to life. And soooo thankful for all of you supporting me, allowing me to create something Iβm truly proud of. Itβs all yours.

Who is Duncan Laurence?
Born Duncan de Moor in 1994, Duncan grew up in Hellevoetsluis, in The Netherlands. The singer began writing his own music as a teenager, as an escape from being bullied. He started his musical career at the Rock Academy in Tilburg, joining a number of school bands, before forming his own bands The Slick and Suited.
In 2014, Duncan participated in the fifth season of The Voice Holland. Laurence selected Dutch musician Ilse DeLange as his coach and advanced to the semi-finals. He was eliminated before the final round. Following his appearance on The Voice Holland, Duncan assumed the stage name Duncan Laurence.
Duncan’s Eurovision history
In 2019, Duncan Laurence was internally selected to represent The Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv. He was nominated for the selection with the song “Arcade” by his The Voice Holland coach Ilse DeLange. His participation in the competition saw The Netherlands qualify for the Grand Final for the fourth consecutive time in a row. “Arcade” would eventually win the 2019 Contest, receiving 498 points. 261 of these came from the public televote, while 237 were awarded by the international juries.
He is the fifth Dutch entrant to win the Contest, and the first since Teach-In won Eurovision in 1975 with the song “Ding-a-dong”. As a result of the 2020 Contest being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Duncan holds the record for the longest reigning Eurovision winner, maintaining the title for two consecutive years.
During the Contest in 2021 in Rotterdam, Duncan opened the first semi-final with “Feel Something”. Here, he was also awarded a Global Platinum record for one billion streams of “Arcade”. At present, Duncan’s “Arcade” has recieved the most streams of any winning Eurovision entry. Unfortunately, Duncan tested positive for COVID-19 during the week of Eurovision, which meant he was unable to perform in the Grand Final or hand over the winner’s trophy.
During the Grand Final of the Song Contest in Liverpool in 2023, Laurence returned to the Eurovision stage. He performed a cover of “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, alongside many other former Eurovision stars. He also co-wrote the Dutch entry for the 2023 Contest, “Burning Daylight”. Mia Nicolai and Dion Cooper performed “Burning Daylight” in Liverpool, but failed to qualify for the Grand Final of the Contest.
