San Marino Song Contest 2026 final rescheduled to 6 March

San Marino RTV has confirmed a change to the schedule of the San Marino Song Contest, with the final now set to take place on 6 March 2026, one day earlier than previously announced.

Updated dates confirmed

The update was revealed during a press conference held by the broadcaster, where San Marino RTV reflected on the 2025 season and outlined its plans for Eurovision 2026.

Under the revised schedule, the San Marino Song Contest will take place across three nights:

  • 2 March – Semi-final 1
  • 3 March – Semi-final 2
  • 6 March – Grand Final

The final had originally been planned for 7 March. No changes were announced to the structure of the competition itself.

Artistic team and Eurovision plans

San Marino RTV also confirmed that Massimo Bonelli will serve as Artistic Director for the contest, while the stage design will be overseen by Marco Calzavara.

During the press conference, the broadcaster’s Director General also addressed San Marino’s relationship with the European Broadcasting Union, stating that discussions are ongoing to strengthen cooperation and ensure fair treatment within the Eurovision framework.

In addition, San Marino RTV announced “Pop Road to Eurovision”, a new build-up series hosted by Senhit, who has represented the microstate at Eurovision in 2011, 2020 and 2021.

The winner of the San Marino Song Contest will go on to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.

San Marino’s Eurovision journey

As one of the smallest countries in Europe, San Marino made its debut in the competition in 2008 with Miodio and the song “Complice”. Since then, they have participated in the competition 14 times, qualifying for the grand final three times. Their best result was in 2019, with Serhat and “Say Na Na Na”.

Italian DJ Gabry Ponte represented San Marino in 2025 with his song “Tutta L’Italia” – the original theme song for Sanremo that year. Performing in the first semi-final, San Marino qualified for the final, where it ultimately placed last with 37 points. 28 points came from the juries, while 9 came from the televote.
