Ukrainian broadcaster Suspilne and Starlight Production have unveiled the official stage layout for Vidbir 2026.
Stage’s format
The stage features a central runway flanked by two performance platforms, giving artists space to move and interact with the audience. The jury area is positioned to the side, and a balcony section above the crowd will be used for additional staging and visual interest.
German Nenov, the Creative Director for the selection, said:
“Last year we focused on LED screens and the content on them. This year, when briefing potential productions, I set a goal to shift the focus to the lighting fixtures that would shape the geometry of the venue. It was also important for us to add a floor screen and a moving element to the stage design to diversify the performances and expand the means of expression compared to previous years. Our goal was to create a stage that would provide several stage areas at once and remain as flexible as possible for directorial decisions. Thanks to the work of the Starlight Production teams, this idea was accurately captured and implemented perfectly.”
10 artists hoping to represent their country. Ukraine’s Eurovision 2026 selection, Vidbir, will take place on February 7, with the winner of the selection set to represent Ukraine in Vienna on the 2nd Half of the 2nd Semi-Final on May 14.
Ukraine’s Eurovision journey
Ukraine is one of the most successful countries to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. The country has scored nine top-five placements, with an extra four top-ten finishes. Ukraine won the Contest three times – in 2004, 2016 and 2022 respectively. Ukraine made history for being the first ex-Soviet country to win the Contest more than once.
In 2025, Ziferblat represented Ukraine in Basel with their song “Bird of Pray”. The band finished in 9th place, scoring 218 points – of which 60 points came from the jury, whilst the remaining 158 points came from the televote.
