BNT has issued an official statement clarifying how the public vote was managed during Natsionalnata Selektsiya 2026. The broadcaster pointed out that the voting process was executed fairly and transparently, and that it strictly followed the established rules.

According to BNT, every vote cast by the public was legitimate, and there was no manipulation or interference with the results. Also, confirmed that equal conditions were provided for all competing artists, and that the audience vote was conducted in accordance with the methodology published by the broadcaster.
The clarification comes amid misinformation circulating online about the audience voting, with some social media users sharing screenshots and claims incorrectly interpreting the live vote tallies from earlier shows. BNT explained that real-time displays during broadcast can fluctuate naturally, which may have led to misunderstandings among viewers.
Bulgaria’s Eurovision Journey
Bulgaria are a country that really wants to win the Eurovision Song Contest, especially since their return in 2016. Bulgaria debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2005 with the song ‘Lorraine’ sung by Kaffe. The song came 19th in the semi-final, scoring 49 points. Bulgaria’s best-ever result came in 2017 with ‘Beautiful Mess’ by Kristian Kostov, the song placed 2nd in the Grand Final that year, scoring 615 points.
In 2022, Bulgaria was represented by the Intelligent Music Project in Turin, where they sang the song “Intention”, placing 16th in the Semi-Final with 29 points.
