🇳🇴 Gåte – “Strandvaskar”
Norway’s 2024 Eurovision entrant Gåte became somewhat of a fan favourite in the run up to the 2024 Contest in Malmö. Despite their song “Ulveham” ending up in last place in the Grand Final, the band have maintained a strong following and are often praised for their unapologetic approach to Norwegian rock. The latest single from the band, “Strandvaskar”, is released ahead of the band’s upcoming album “Sigil”, due in September of this year. It’s a slightly different sound for Gåte compared to some of their recent singles such as “Oskorseia”, with less of a metal sound and more of a drum and bass influence in the first half of the song, before a big drum and guitar breakdown towards the end. The vocals from lead singer Gunnhild Sundli are as piercing and immediately gripping as with every Gåte song. As we get more singles ahead of the upcoming album next month, it is incredibly exciting to see the direction Gåte are going.
🇦🇹 Kaleen – “Next To You”
Kaleen has long been a part of the Eurovision universe, even before her appearance for Austria in the Contest in 2024 with “We Will Rave”. The performer has worked backstage at Contests for many years, as well as acting as a stand in performer during rehearsals, and working on the Junior Contest. She served as the official Senior Stage Director for the Contest in Vienna, in 2026. She also recently announced her engagement to long-time partner and fellow Eurovision creative Marvin Dietmann. Together, they truly are a Eurovision super team. For her first release of 2026, Kaleen gives the world two versions of the song “Next To You”. The piano version of the song is an emotional love song, full of beautiful vocal moments. The guitar version of the song, whilst containing the same lyrics, takes the song in a more campfire sing-a-long direction. Both version of the song show off Kaleen’s talent. “Next To You” was written by Kaleen herself. She’s sure to be connected to Eurovision for a long time yet!
🇩🇪 Isaak – “WE HAD IT ALL”
When ISAAK was picked to represent Germany in the 2024 Contest with “Always On The Run”, Germany were on a streak of 3 bottom 2 finishes. ISAAK finished 12th in the Grand Final in Malmö with 117 points, something that seemed impossible for Germany just a year prior. For his first solo release of 2026, ISAAK returns with “WE HAD IT ALL”. The song is a melodic guitar pop song, detailing the hardships of a relationship. ISAAK’s growly, husky voice really compliments this type of music. The song is written by Isaak himself, alongside Charly Martin and Joe Housley.
🇮🇪 Emmy – “Monster”
Emmy, alongside her brother Star Guy, has a long history with the Eurovision Song Contest. The Norwegian singer competed in the Melodi Grand Prix national final in 2021, with the track “Witch Woods”, and attempted to represent Norway again in 2026 with the track “Sykt Fin”. Her brother, Star Guy, attempted to represent San Marino in 2026 with the track “Star Shadez”. But eurofans will most likely remember the pair from their 2025 Eurovision entry “Laika Party”, which represent Ireland. Emmy released “Acoustic World” project earlier in the month. The next in her series of acoustic covers and reworked songs, Emmy has covered Meg & Dia’s 2006 emo-pop ballad “Monster”. The track has a previous Eurovision connection, having been turned into a bounce EDM track by Gabry Ponte (San Marino 2024) and LUM!X (Austria 2022) before either of them had appeared on the Eurovision stage. Emmy’s version sees a complete reinvention of the track once again, a very different release than the 2019 Ponte/LUM!X version. It’s a paired down cover, with Emmy’s vocal track accompanied by just a piano. It’s a beautiful version of the track. I recommend listening to the original, EDM version and Emmy’s version back to back. It’s a fun experience.
