It’s only the beginning of the Eurovision 2022 season, but countries continue to reveal their plans are going to be for next year’s competition, which is due to take place in Italy. The next country to start their preparations is Greece, as they have now opened submissions for next year’s competition, with interested parties having until the 10th of October to submit their entries.
How will Greece select their Eurovision 2022 entry?
With submissions now open, Greece is yet to reveal how they are intending to select their Eurovision 2022 entry. It was previously reported that ERT intends to hold a National Final to select their entry for Italy. However, at the time of writing, it is yet to be revealed if this will be the case.
Greece’s Eurovision Journey
In 1974, Greece made its debut to the Eurovision Song Contest with “Krasi, thalassa ke t’agori mou” (Κρασί, θάλασσα και τ’αγόρι μου) which placed 11th. Since then they have participated on 41 occasions (39 of which made the Grand Final), and have one once in 2005.
Greece’s recent Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Stefania (who was due to represent them in 2020) with the song “Last Dance”, which saw Greece qualify for the Grand Final, where they placed 10th, after receiving 170 points from the Jury and Televoters.
