🇷🇺 Russia confirms participation in Junior Eurovision 2022

Russia has confirmed their participation in Junior Eurovision 2022. It was also confirmed that there will be a National Final to select Russia’s 2022 JESC representative. The application window opens February 14 and closes September 1.

Russian Rules and Regulations

Along with the announcement, all the regulations were posted as well. This includes the procedure for the Russian National Final, which is set to be held September. First, a number of applications are selected by a jury for auditions. These auditions are the semi-final for the Russian National Final, with the jury deciding who makes it through. A 50/50 jury and televote will decide Russia’s entry for Junior Eurovision 2022 during a televised event, also held in Spetember.

What we know about Junior Eurovision 2022

Junior Eurovision 2022 is set to be held in Armenia following Maléna’s win with Qami Qami in Paris. A number of countries have confirmed they will be participating. So far we have confirmation from the following countries:

It also has been confirmed that Wales will not be returning to Junior Eurovision in 2022.

Russia’s Junior Eurovision Journey

Russia has been participating in Junior Eurovision since 2006. Vladislav Krutskikh first represented Russia with the song “Doroga k solntsu” he placed 9th in the contest scoring 66 points. The country has won the contest twice, once with the Tolmachevy Sisters in 2007 with the song “Vesenniy jazz” and then again with Polina Bogusevich in 2017 with the song “Wings”.

In 2021, Russia was represented by Tanya Mezhentseva with the song “Mon Ami”. She scored 124 points total, finishing 7th.
