With the third semi-final of Melodi Grand Prix only days away, Tim sits down with Stig van Eijk. They are vying to represent Norway at Eurovision 2023 with their song “Someday”.

Tim and Stig talked about the creative process behind “Someday”, what it would mean to them if they get get given the opportunity to represent Norway once again at Eurovision, and what we can expect from their performance at Melodi Grand Prix this weekend.

About Stig Van Eijk

Stig van Eijk is no stranger to Melodi Grand Prix and Eurovision. 24 years ago, Stig won the Norwegian selection in 1999 and went on to represent Norway at Eurovision in Jerusalem with the entry “Living My Life Without You”, which ended up placing 14th overall. Stig has released two studio albums and have written music for other artists.

Norway’s Eurovision Journey

The Scandinavian nation made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960, with Nora Brockstedt and the song “Voi Voi”, which placed 4th. Since their debut, they have participated 60 times, and made the grand final 57 of these. In addition, Norway has won the competition three times (1985, 1995, and 2009).

Norway’s latest Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Subwoolfer with the song “Give That Wolf a Banana”. During their participation, Norway placed 10th in the grand final, receiving 182 points from the jury and televoters.
