Today the rehearsals for Eurovision 2023 has kicked off in Liverpool. Countries rehearsing on Day 1 include Norway, Malta, Serbia, Latvia, Portugal, Ireland, Croatia, Switzerland, Moldova and Sweden. The eighth to rehearse today is Switzerland’s Remo Forrer.
Remo Forrer’s first rehearsal
The first to take to the Eurovision 2023 stage at Liverpool Arena in Liverpool was Switzerland’s Remo Forrer. Remo will be competing in this year’s competition with his entry “Watergun” following being internally selected by the broadcaster.
Following Remo’s first rehearsal a clip of what went on was posted on the official TikTok account of the Eurovision Song Contest. The clip showed Remo before and after he took to the Eurovision stage for the first time, as well as giving us some insight into how well his first rehearsal went. In the last run through there was the use of smoke and red fireworks in Remo’s performance.
What did we learn about Remo Forrer’s staging?

According to the Eurovision Live blog Remo is joined on stage by four contemporary dancers. During the performance Remo also dances himself which came as a surprise. There was particular praise for Remo’s vocal performance. During this performance there is the use of smoke and red fireworks which really build the atmosphere for this song.

Who is Remo Forrer
Remo Forrer is a 21 year old singer from Hemburg which is in the St Gallen region of Switzerland.
Remo’s career in Switzerland started when he appeared on The Voice in 2019 – where he made it all the way to the final. During his time on The Voice Switzerland he was coached by Noah Veraguth, a famous Swiss singer – whom Remo also duetted with during his time on the show.
Not only does Remo have a good voice, but he has also self taught himself to play many musical instruments such as the flute, accordion and the piano.
Remo’s Eurovision 2023 song “Watergun was written by Argyle Singh, Ashley Hicklin and Mikołaj Trybulec.
Switzerland’s Eurovision Journey
Switzerland both hosted and debuted in the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. Their first participation was successful, as they won with Lys Assia’s “Refrain”. Since then, they have participated on 62 occasions, making the Grand Final 51 times.
Switzerland’s most recent participation saw them being represented by Marius Bear with his song “Boys Do Cry”, which saw them qualify for the Grand Final for a third consecutive participation. Overall, Switzerland finished 17th, after receiving 78 points from the jury and 0 points from the televoters.
