Just now, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Sveriges Television (SVT) have revealed that the slogan for Eurovision 2024 and all contests going forward will be “United By Music”.
The reasoning
In a press release, the EBU detailed the reasons behind the selection. “United By Music” was the slogan created by the BBC for last year’s contest. This was to demonstrate the unity between the UK, Ukraine and host city Liverpool. This is because it “reflects the power of music to bring people together across the world.”
SVT and the ESC Reference Group have decided to keep this slogan for next year’s contest as well. Additionally, the contest will use “United By Music” going forward as it “creates continuity and consistency for future contests by using the same powerful slogan in 2024 and at every subsequent event.”
The Journey to Eurovision 2024
The Nordic country will be hosting the 68th edition of the competition following Loreen’s historic win at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool. One month after the 2023 contest took place SVT revealed the Core Team that would be working on the competition, with this being completed in September.
Four cities were in the running to host the 68th edition of the competition (Gothenburg, Malmö, Örnsköldsvik and Stockholm), with SVT settling for Malmö as the host city. The competition will take place on the 7th, 9th & 11th of May at Malmö Arena.
