In their interview with Angus, MEGARA talked about why they named their song “11:11”, how they write their music, and just how pink their staging might end up being.

Who are MEGARA?

MEGARA are a Spanish rock band that formed in Madrid in the year 2015. Members Kenzy Loevett (vocalist), Vitti Crocutta (bass), Tio Rober Bueno (guitar), and Rapheale Tache (drums) have described their sound as “fucksia rock”.

The group’s first release was EP “Muérase quien pueda” (Whoever can die). MEGARA followed this release with their debut album “Siete” in 2016. Since then, the group has released multiple singles and EPs, and two more albums. 2022’s “Truco o trato” (Trick or treating) is their most recent album. Besides working hard in the studio, the band also has made a name for themselves at festivals such as Download and Resurrection Fest, and by supporting Babymetal when the Japanese band performed in Spain. Eurovision fans will recognize MEGARA from Benidorm Fest 2023, where they finished 4th with “Arcadia”. This year, they won Una Voce Per San Marino, representing the Most Serene Republic at Eurovision.

“11:11” was written by the band and produced by Isra Dante Ramos. The track is intended as both a thank you to their fans and a rebuttal of everyone who ever doubted MEGARA.

San Marino’s Eurovision Journey

As one of the smallest countries in Europe, San Marino made its debut in the competition in 2008 with Miodio and the song “Complice”. Since then they have participated in the competition 13 times (3 of which where they qualified for the Grand Final), and their best result was in 2019, with Serhat and “Say Na Na Na”.

Italian band Piqued Jacks represented San Marino in 2023 in Liverpool with the song “Like An Animal”. The band performed in the second semi-final, but unfortunately didn’t qualify for the Grand Final. Overall, San Marino placed joint-last, receiving 0 points from the televote.
