Switzerland Eurovision 2025 - pre-Contest visual design

Nearly a month on since Nemo’s win in Sweden, cities in Switzerland are continuing to assess if they are going to try and bid to host next year’s competition. This time, a joint bid has been put forward in the form of of Bern and Biel.

Could Nemo’s home town be the Eurovision 2025 Host City?

We have previously reported that Bern has been encouraged to host a bid, and now it seems that it could come to fruition, and that they could be undertaking the bid with Biel, which is Nemo’s home town.

The news of a potential joint bid was announced by Biel, mentioning that after clarifications, it was decided to explore the possibility further, and team up with BERNEXPO, in order to host the contest at Festhalle in Bern, which can accomodate up to 9,000 spectators. Meanwhile, The Tissot Arena, which can accommodate up to 6,500 spectators would be used to host other Eurovision events.

Bern, Biel and BERNEXPO are currently going through the requirements, on whether or not the cities will be able to meet the requirements, which includes security, logistics, and if whether or not “Festhalle” can meet the requirements to host the contest.

A decision on whether or not a bid will be made has not been finalised, but will be done before the end of June, when the deadline is. It is hoping that that a joint application will be possible, with all parties only submitting an application if there is a real chance of being selected as the host city.

All About Eurovision 2025

Switzerland will be hosting the 69th edition of the competition following Nemo’s historic win at Eurovision 2024 in Malmö. A few weeks after their win, it was already announced that Reto Peritz, and Moritz Stadler will be the Executive Producers of next year’s shows, with the other roles to be filled at a later date.

The interested cities in hosting next year’s competition have now received the requirements they would have to meet in order to host next year’s competition. Cities would have until the end of June to submit their bids, with SRG SSR set to reveal the Eurovision 2025 host city by the end of August.
