TALI performing Fighter for Luxembourg at the Grand Final at Malmö Arena

Following their first participation in 30 years at Eurovision 2024, RTL have confirmed that Luxembourg will participate again in 2025.

Luxembourg seeks a candidate

As part of this announcement, RTL have announced that singers interested in representing Luxembourg in Switzerland next year have until 6th October to submit materials. Potential singers must be at least sixteen years old by 1st January 2025, must be citizens of Luxembourg or have lived there for at least three years, and be available for a live performance as early as November of 2024. In the case of a group, at least one member must fulfill the nationality requirement.

Each performer may submit up to five songs; compliant with Eurovision rules, the songs must be three minutes or shorter in length and have never been performed live prior to 1st September 2024. Submissions are open on eurovision.lu.

For Eurovision 2024, RTL held the national final Luxembourg Song Contest in January with eight competing entries. At this time, it is not known what changes will be made to the national selection format.

Luxembourg’s Eurovision Journey

Luxembourg first made their debut in the first edition of the Contest in 1956, with their first entries being “Ne crois pas” and “Les amants de minuit”, both performed by Michèle Arnaud. Since the first Contest, Luxembourg has competed a total of 38 times. Their best result was finishing in 1st place five times – in 1961, 1965, 1972, 1973 and 1983.

Luxembourg returned to the contest for the first time in 31 years in 2024. Tali represented Luxembourg in Malmö, with the song “Fighter”. Tali qualified for the Grand Final from the first semifinal In the Grand Final, “Fighter” received 103 points: 83 points from the national juries, and 20 points from the televoters.
