About “Natal Mais Uma Vez”

Do you ever get to the end of Christmas night and just feel like you want to do it all over again? Evidently so does Luísa Sobral, as that’s exactly what this song is all about. Natal Mais Uma Vez (Christmas Once More) is a jazz waltz, not too dissimilar to a certain other she wrote, that focuses on wanting to do all those special Christmas occasions all over again.

If the extremely early 2010s music video wasn’t a dead giveaway, Natal Mais Uma Vez was released in December 2012, and was written by Sobral herself, with Luis Figueiredo (Elisa Rodrigues, Marisa Liz) joining her for the production.

What do we think?

Do you really think I have anything other than positive things to say about a song written and performed by a Portuguese woman? Of course not. The waltzing tunes are absolutely perfect for Christmas time, and tells the story of the song really well. Luísa’s voice is fantastic and I feel it matches the song really well.

Luísa Sobral’s Eurovision Journey

Luísa Sobral was amongst the first cohort of songwriters invited by RTP to compose a song to compete in the newly revamped Festival Da Canção. She would go on to write Amar Pelos Dois, a song specifically composed with her brother in mind. Salvador, performing the song, would go onto win Festival Da Canção, before breaking the Eurovision points record as he won Eurovision 2017 with the song, scoring a whopping 758 points. Luísa has also worked with other Portuguese Eurovision artists, namely 2018’s Isaura and 2020’s Elisa.
