Eurovision in Basel is less than a month away. In the lead-up to the start of rehearsals, we will get to know a bit more about this year’s artists, their discography, and their Eurovision 2025 journey so far. Next up, we will preview Montenegro’s Nina Žižić.
Nina Žižić’s Eurovision Journey So Far
Montenegro returned to Eurovision after taking a two-year break from the competition, and held ‘Montesong’ to select its representative. Initially, NeonoeN was set to represent Montenegro in Eurovision 2025. However, after it was revealed that their entry for the contest “Clickbait” was performed prior to September 1, 2024, the band withdrew its candidacy from the contest. It was then revealed that Nina Žižić, who represented Montenegro in 2013 with Who See and was the runner-up of Montesong, will be their representative.
Montenegro will participate in Eurovision 2025 with “Dobrodošli”, which was written by Boris Subotic and Violeta Mihajlovska.

Who is Nina Žižić?
Montenegrin entrant for Basel Nina Žižić is no novice in the world of Eurovision, having already represented the Balkan nation back in 2013 alongside Who See with ‘Igranka’. Her Eurovision journey began in 2006 when she tried to participate in Athens with ‘Potraži me’. Her involvement in Eurovision has extended beyond participating, having also acted as on of Montenegro’s jurors for the 2022 contest. Active for nearly two decades in the music industry ‘Dobrodošli’ will mark the first studio released single for Nina in two years.
Montenegro’s Eurovision Journey
Before Montenegro announced its return to the Eurovision Song Contest for 2025, they had a scattered appearance at the competition.
There has been a Montenegrin presence at the Eurovision Song Contest as far back as 1983, when the nation was a part of Yugoslavia. Montenegrin entries went on to represent Yugoslavia in 1983 and 1984, placing 4th and 18th respectively. Similarly, the nation also sent an entry as part of Serbia and Montenegro in 2005, placing 7th with No Name’s “Zauvijek moja”.
As an independent nation, Montenegro debuted in 2007 with Steven Faddy’s “Ajde, kroci”. This began a string of non-qualifications, until their first appearance in a Grand Final in 2014. Montenegro’s best result came in 2015 with Knez’s “Adio”, scoring 44 points and placing 13th. Their most recent appearance in the Contest was in 2022, when Vladana finished in 17th place in the semi-final with 33 points with her song “Breathe”.
