Now that the utterly chaotic 2025 National Final season is over, and we now have all the songs that will be competing at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest in Basel. Instead of taking a breather, it’s time to deep dive and being overly analytical about ever single song in That Eurovision Jury 2025.

While there’s no way to accurately predict what the juries or televotes will decide next month, we can say how we would vote if we were jurors, because boy do we have some strong opinions here at TES.

No Rules! (okay we do have to have some rules)

The 36 countries competing this year have been randomly sorted into 6 segments. Each segment will be voted on by 5 jurors. They have assessed based on six categories: Melodic Impact, Artist Presence, Individuality, Attention Drawing, Vocal Fit, and Lyrical Impact. Exact specifications of these criteria can be found below. Our five jurors have given a score of 1 to 5 on each of the six topics, allowing each juror to give a maximum of 30 points to each song. In total there are up to 150 points available to each song. Once every song and score has been presented a full breakdown with a ranking of all 36 of this year’s entries.

Additionally, all of our jurors were asked to give one positive, and one negative comment about each song in a constructive manner. In line with our current editorial policy Israel will not be reviewed as part of this jury. You can read more about our stance here.

These are our personal opinions based on the criteria outlined. This is in no way attempt to accurately predict what will be the outcome of live shows and should not be taken as such.

Countries And Jurors For Part Four

The six countries that make up the first segment being voted on are: Ireland, Poland, Iceland, Austria, Malta, and Norway.

The jurors voting in this segment are: Shiloh, Georgia, Daniel, Jonathan and Euan.

Voting Criteria

Criteria 1: Melodic Impact

How lasting is the beat of the track. The more the beat stays, the higher the ranking.

Criteria 2: Artist’s Presence

If a national final is used, how their presence on stage affected the performance. If an internal selection was used, and no pre-party of other live footage is available then their presence is assessed based on their history.

Criteria 3: Individuality

How different is the song compared to the rest of the acts participating this year.

Criteria 4: Attention Drawing

How drawn in are you by the song. Are you waiting for it to finish, or completely engrossed.

Criteria 5: Vocal Fit

Assessing the vocal fit of the artist to the song rather than judging their technical ability in full. ie. X singer may have a wider range to Y singer, though singer Y may utilise the range better in their song and therefore should be ranked higher than X.

Criteria 6: Lyrical Impact

How lasting are the lyrics to you. Has listening to it left you singing the song.

Positives

Shiloh: Say what you will about this song, but it’s catchy! Definitely the earworm I’ve gotten the most out of all of this year’s songs.

Georgia: It’s the type of entry that epitomises what Eurovision is all about – silly but fun, with a great party feel.

Daniel: This is incredibly catchy and is bound to stick in people’s heads

Jonathan: This song is super catchy and super cute

Euan: It manages to catch your attention without necessarily being too in your face.

Negatives

Shiloh: Emmy seems a little “tuned out” during the live performances. It doesn’t seem like her attention is fully on what she’s doing or like she’s committed, and that detracts from her stage presence.

Georgia: People may be confused by the topic of the song and not understand why she’s singing about a dog.

Daniel: For the type of song that this is it needs to be way more attention grabbing, especially in a year like this one.

Jonathan: It is quite aggressively cheesy and lyrics leave a lot to be desired

Euan: It lacks a lot of substance outwith the chorus.

Positives

Shiloh: This song was absolutely made for Justya–literally, I think? It’s tailor-made to show off her impressive vocal abilities, her ability to hold long notes even while doing a full dance routine. And it shows her off well!

Georgia: Justyna is a very experienced performer and very engaging to the audience on stage.

Daniel: Justyna is a PERFORMER, the stage show is incredible.

Jonathan: This performance is incredible, an Olympic-level physical effort

Euan: The vocal intensity she provides during this performance is winner worthy.

Negatives

Shiloh: I really struggle with the English section of the lyrics. They don’t scan well and I think she’d really be better off keeping the whole thing in Polish.

Georgia: With a lot of loud songs in the first semi-final, Gaja may struggle to stand out in all of the noise.

Daniel: I think this is a weak song being carried by a strong performer, who might only be able to take that so far

Jonathan: The song itself doesn’t stand out that much

Euan: She does *so much* on stage that I think it’s just a tad too much and a detriment to the performance.

Positives

Shiloh: Excellent stage presence! These guys know how to have fun and sell whatever it is we’re seeing.

Georgia: It’s such a fun song, a great opening choice to open the show in Basel.

Daniel: This is an aggressively fun in your face performance, thanks almost entirely to the charisma of the boys.

Jonathan: This is a very fun song sung by two wonderfully fun characters

Euan: A pair with an amazing fun energy.

Negatives

Shiloh: Both the composition and the staging are a bit samey. What you get at the beginning of the song is what you get at the end which makes it hard to feel engaged.

Georgia: The performance at Söngvakeppnin felt a little empty to me – I feel like they should add something else for ESC itself but don’t know what that something looks like.

Daniel: To say that their vocals need work would be putting it nicely

Jonathan: This song doesn’t really stand out, and being fun isn’t enough to be successful for me

Euan: There’s not really much in this that’ll be memorable enough to stand out after a series of songs.

Austria 🇦🇹 JJ – Wasted Love

Lyrical Impact23.522.53.513.5

Total score: 116.5

Positives

Shiloh: “Wasted Love” does an excellent job of not changing too much at once as the song progresses, but changing just enough to keep me interested–and then when the beat drops at the bridge, it feels like a natural crescendo rather than a total curveball.

Georgia: JJ’s vocals are phenomenal and show off such an impressive range.

Daniel: The speeding up at the end is bound to get people to sit up in their chairs

Jonathan: Incredible singing and a really cool production. It certainly stands out from the pack

Euan: Absolute Goosebumps every time someone here’s The Moment for the first time.

Negatives

Shiloh: It’s very hard to hear and understand the lyrics in the chorus–understandably so, because when singing that high you have to modify the way you move your mouth! But I’ve heard this song so many times and I still can’t tell you with confidence what he’s singing in those parts.

Georgia: This feels nearly impossible to stage well – it’s been teased that there’ll be “something never seen at Eurovision before”, but will that pay off?

Daniel: The lyrics are definitely the weak point here.

Jonathan: It is slightly reminiscent of Switzerland’s winner last year, and might get lumped in as a copycat, but with less impactful lyrics

Euan: The whole song is geared towards that one payoff in the final few seconds and I feel like it’s going to be incredibly difficult to pull off on the Basel stage.

Malta 🇲🇹 Miriana Conte – SERVING

Vocal Fit4.53.524.52.517
Lyrical Impact332.53112.5

Total score: 87.5

Positives

Shiloh: Miriana knows exactly how to sell whatever it is that she’s doing. She looks committed–as weird as this performance is, she goes all in, which is great. A disengaged version of this performance would be painful to watch.

Georgia: Miriana is a great live performer and clearly has a ton of fun on stage while performing the song.

Daniel: Miriana’s stage presence is the best thing about this song and she is well aware of that fact and uses it to full effect.

Jonathan: This is smart, cool, and a blast to listen to. Self-aware without being cloying, a hard feat

Euan: Incredibly catchy hook for the chorus’ music.

Negatives

Shiloh: The song goes so hard on selling the chorus that it’s impossible to remember or pay attention to the rest of the song. The verses and prechorus are so paint-by-numbers forgettable.

Georgia: Through no fault of their own, I just feel that the song doesn’t work without the gimmick of ‘kant’ – you get the buildup to where the word was and the ‘ah’ doesn’t feel like an equal replacement.

Daniel: The song relies far too much on its own hype and gimmick that it feels like you need to be in on the joke beforehand to really get it

Jonathan: It might not be something that everybody appreciates, and people may not get the humour of it

Euan: Without the shock factor, it is just a little bland.

Norway 🇳🇴 Kyle Alessandro – Lighter

Lyrical Impact332.52111.5

Total score: 88

Positives

Shiloh: Kyle’s deeper vocal color does a lot for the song! Someone with a brassier, brighter way of singing wouldn’t sound nearly as good singing this. It gives the song a little more conviction.

Georgia: Kyle’s live vocals were great at MGP and he showed he is a very engaging performer.

Daniel: I feel like I’m saying this for everyone at this point, but Kyle is a little star

Jonathan: This is what Armenia is trying to achieve and I’m glad someone is able to pull it off

Euan: There’s a solid hook here.

Negatives

Shiloh: As professional as this performance looks, Kyle isn’t emoting very much facially, which detracts from his stage presence a good bit.

Georgia: The song feels a little too generic to truly stand out, going immediately before Belgium in the running order probably won’t help that.

Daniel: Lighter feels like something we’ve seen and heard 1000 times before

Jonathan: This song feels like a throwback somehow, like a genre that’s had its moment and gone

Euan: Like some of the aforementioned songs, it is quite lacking outwith the chorus.
