The Netherlands’ public broadcaster AVROTROS is already gearing up for Eurovision 2026. They have opted for an internal selection yet again.

Submissions open until August 31

AVROTROS will once again select an artist and song for Eurovision 2026 internally. Interested? Check out the submission link here, with the broadcaster accepting submissions until August 31.

All submissions must comply with Eurovision rules. Performing artists must be at least sixteen years old by April 15th, 2026; the song may be no more than three minutes long; and the song may not have been released publicly prior to September 1st, 2025 (at the time of writing, and until the date submissions close, the song may not have been performed or released publicly at all).

Additionally, AVROTROS requests that all vocals in submissions be performed live; that the performing artist is affiliated with a record company or independent label; and that the artist have recent, demonstrable stage experience.

Ideally, submissions will be both for a song and artist together; however, song submissions with the option to select an artist later are acceptable. Songs may be in any language and any individual may submit up to three songs.

The Netherlands’ Eurovision journey

The Netherlands are one of the founding countries of the ESC, having performed the very first song ever on the Eurovision stage back in 1956. While the result of โ€œDe Vogels van Hollandโ€ is unknown, the Netherlands have garnered 5 wins, with their most recent in 2019. However the Netherlands are also known to have had the longest ever non qualification streak in the semi-final era – they missed out on the final a whopping 8 times between 2005 and 2012.

Claude represented the Netherlands in 2025 with the song “C’est La Vie”. Competing in the first semi-final, he eventually qualified for the final in Basel. In the final, the Netherlands finished in 12th place with 175 points. 133 of these points came from the juries, while the remaining 42 came from the televote.

Are the Netherlands on a path to Eurovision success? Will this year’s internal selection bring them to the Grand Final once again?
