Eurovision 2025 - which saw the viewing figures being revealed two weeks on

The viewing figures for Eurovision 2025 have been revealed by the EBU. In total, 166 million people watched the Grand Final of the show which saw Austria win the Contest.

Record breaking reach for the Contest

Following the final, which took place two weeks ago, the EBU confirmed that 166 million people watched the final of the Contest. This is up by 3 million people compared to figures from 2024.

According to the EBU, the 2025 edition of the Contest saw a huge year for the reach of the Contest to various social media channels. Figures revealed by the conglomeration found that there were almost 2 billion views on the content put out by the EBU over the two weeks of rehearsals, and the liveshows.

The viewing share for the show was also at its highest level for decades, reaching 47.7% at its peak – the highest since the Contest in Istanbul back in 2004. 15-24 year olds also broke records, with an average of 60.4% of viewer share being from the demographic; the most ever seen.

International votes breakdown

On top of this, the EBU revealed some of the breakdown of the votes surrounding the Rest of the World vote. The top voting countries in the Rest of the World televote – which make up the equivalent of one voting country – were United States, Canada, Romania, Slovakia, Mexico, Türkiye, Hungary, Kosovo, United Arab Emirates and South Africa.

Other outlets run by the EBU saw growth, including the official Contest podcast, which saw over 1.5 million plays across various social media. The official Roblox party was also joined by 1.2 million people in a way to interact with the younger demographic.

Speaking on the success of the show, Eurovision Director Martin Green said that he was thrilled to see so much engagement with the show:

The Contest’s growing musical impact is undeniable, with songs resonating on global streaming charts and inspiring fans worldwide. From living rooms to livestreams, and from national pride to international connection, the Eurovision Song Contest continues to be one of the most vibrant and unifying cultural experiences on the planet.

The story of Eurovision 2025

Switzerland hosted the 69th edition of the competition following Nemo’s historic win at Eurovision 2024 in Malmö. A few weeks after their win, Reto Peritz, and Moritz Stadler, was announced as the Executive Producers, with the other roles revealed in July 2024.

Basel, Bern & Biel/Bienne, Geneva, and Zurich submitted bids to host next year’s competition, with Basel and Geneva being shortlisted as the final two cities. After the shortlist, it was revealed that Basel will host Eurovision 2025, at St. Jakobshalle with the shows taking place on May 13, 15 and 17. Austria’s JJ went on to win the Contest, meaning Eurovision 2026 will be held in Austria.
