The Winners
Nemo – “Unexplainable”
Our outgoing champion released one song this month. “Unexplainable” was part of their interval act performance and makes for a gorgeous and hearttugging studio track as well.
Damiano David – “FUNNY little FEARS” (LP)
It’s been threatened for a while and now it is here: the debut solo album by Damiano David has arrived. “FUNNY little FEARS” includes the previously released “Next Summer“, “Born With A Broken Heart“, and “Silverlines” and 11 pieces of new music. The slowly building, sprawling “Silverlines”, which somehow is not the opening nor closing track, is the one high point for me.
SÍLVIA & SALVADOR – “Silvia & Salvador” (LP)
It’s technically a self-titled album as Sílvia Pérez Cruz and Salvador Sobral build on their work together to release an entire album. It’s classy, it’s sweet, it’s lovely and warm when it wants to be and emotional when it needs to. So, just what you would expect from these two teaming up. We also get some language variety, ranging from Spanish to Portuguese to French and even English. Big recommend to people like me who vibe to this kind of music!
JOANA ESPADINHA COM SALVADOR SOBRAL – “BALA PERDIDA”
But that was not all from the artist who still holds the record for most points scored in a Eurovision final. In another collab, he sings the lovely duet “BALA PERDIDA” with Joana Espadinha.
KALUSH – “Залежний”, KALUSH x BEREZA – “Парашут”, KALUSH x Blockbaby – “Більше менше”
A month has passed so yes, of course there is new music from Kalush as well. “Залежний” is a song about the contrast between someone who waits a little too long before flirting with who they have their eye on and a person who jumps in perhaps a bit too quickly. And while it is not officially a part of KALUSHcollab (did that end?), I consider their song “Парашут” (Parachute) with BEREZA to be part of it spiritually. The use of guitar and Bereza’s smooth voice adds some very pleasant sonic shifts and dynamism to the usual KALUSH sound. Finally, “Більше менше” (More less), is a bit of a slower jam featuring Blockbaby.
Sandra Kim & Celien Hermans – “INNER HERO”
Celien Hermans has always been a big fan of Sandra Kim, and after seeing her at a recent concert the singer-songwriter decided to send some of her demos to the Eurovision winner. Sandra Kim instantly felt the magic of pop-dance track “INNER HERO”, and this duet was born.
Marija Serifovic and Jovana Pajic – “DEMONI”
Also going for a collab this month was Marija Serifovic, teaming up with Serbian singer Jovana Pajic for “DEMONI”. This interesting take on the Balkan ballad is beautifully moody for the most part, and sees the singers tell a story of facing their demons, and how these demons can tear you down but also make you grow.
Vicky Leandros – “BIG BOX – The English Recordings” (Compilation LP)
Are you in search of over 6 and a half hours of music in English? Do you love Vicky Leandros? Do I have the album for you! “BIG BOX – The English Recordings” collects all English language recordings the legendary Greek born, Germany based, Luxembourg representing singer has made over her career. And yes, that includes “Come What May”, the English version of her Eurovision winning entry “Après toi”.
Secret Garden – “Song From A Secret Garden (Remastered 2025)” (LP)
The much-threatened 2025 remaster of Secret Garden’s first international album “Song From A Secret Garden” is out now. And yes, that of course means the album immediately opens on a remaster of their winning Eurovision song. I am so used to the Eurovision version of that song that it almost feels wrong to listen to this studio cut, but fans of neo-classical new age should still greatly appreciate this remaster.
Loreen – “Arcade”
Oh hey it is a Eurovision winner covering another Eurovision song as a Spotify single! Look, I am sure the Spotify Singles are great, I just don’t like it as a release strategy.
