๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Ukraine announces participation in Junior Eurovision 2025

Ukraine’s national broadcaster, Suspilne, has confirmed their participation in this year’s upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

Suspilne opens applications from June 16

Ukraine confirmed in a press release that they will participate in the upcoming contest in Tbilisi. This comes after the country’s third place finish in Madrid last year.

Children aged 9 to 14 can submit their application between the 16th of June and the 10th of July. They can submit up to three entries – two live recordings of popular songs and optionally an original song.

Expert council will be involved

The nationwide preliminary selection will shortlist 15 participants by the 22nd of July. “Star School” will then provide the participants with professional advice. An expert council will then review the training of all 15 participants and select six finalists to take part in the national selection. The latter will take place in October.

Artists can submit their application via the official Junior Eurovision Ukraine website.

Ukraine’s Junior Eurovision journey

In 2006, Ukraine made their debut to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with Nazar Slyusarchuk and the song “Khlopchyk Rock ‘n’ Roll” (ะฅะปะพะฟั‡ะธะบ ั€ะพะบ ‘ะฝ’ ั€ะพะปะป), which placed 9th. Since their debut, the Eastern European nation has participated 17 times, and even won once in 2012 with Anastasiya Petryk and her song “Nebo” (ะะตะฑะพ).

Following a fifth place in 2023, Ukraine achieved another top five finish in 2024, when Artem Kotenko and his song “Hear Me Now” placed third. He placed second in both individual voting categories, receiving 122 points from the jury and 81 from the televote, but was ultimately beat out by Georgia and Portugal respectively.
