Twelve-year-old Albert Armenakyan has been selected to represent Armenia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025, set to take place on 13 December in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Who is Albert Armenakyan?
Twelve-year-old Albert Armenakyan, coming from Yerevan, began his musical journey at just six years old and now studies both piano and singing. Over the years, he has taken part in a range of music contests across Armenia and internationally. Earlier in 2025, Albert reached the final of The Voice Kids France (Season 11), where he was mentored by Patrick Fiori — France’s representative at Eurovision 1993. Remarkably, Albert has also tried to represent Armenia at Junior Eurovision for the past three consecutive years before finally achieving his dream this season.
Albert stated:
“I am very happy to represent Armenia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Dreams really do come true when you believe in them endlessly. Singing on the big stage of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and representing our country to the world has been my biggest dream, which is now a reality. This is both a great honor and a great responsibility, which I am ready for. I promise that I will do everything to represent our country in the best way possible.”
Selection process
The national broadcaster Public Television Company of Armenia opened submissions earlier this year and received over 80 applications from both Armenia and abroad. An expert panel of Armenian and international music professionals evaluated the entries before picking Albert as the country’s candidate. The Armenian members of the jury were:
- David Tserunyan – Head of Delegation for Armenia
- Anna Tadevosyan – AMPTV Creative Producer
- Aram MP3 – Represented Armenia at Eurovision 2014
- Jako – Represented Armenia at Eurovision 2024 as part of Ladaniva
- Arthur Manukyan – Director
David Tserunyan said:
“Armenia is one of the most successful and anticipated countries at Junior Eurovision. While our beloved fans eagerly await what Armenia will present to the world each year, the team and the artists always try their best to deliver a truly outstanding performance, something we could be proud of. I must admit that the jury had a truly difficult task this year, choosing the best among more than 80 very talented children, but I’m very glad that both the Armenian and international experts have chosen Albert. This year, Armenia will present itself in a completely new way, something we haven’t really done in the recent years – a new format, a new message to the world and a big dream in our hearts.”
The song that Albert will perform in Tbilisi will be released at a later date.
Armenia’s Junior Eurovision journey
Armenia is one of the most successful countries in Junior Eurovision. The Caucasian nation first took part in 2007 and finished in second place, with “Erazanq” performed by Arevik. Following this, Armenia has scored eleven top-five results – including two wins in 2010, when Vladimir Arzumunyan triumphed in Minsk with his song “Mama”. They won the contest again in 2021, in Paris. When Maléna represented them with her song “Qami, Qami”
Leo Mkrtchyan, or Leo, represented Armenia in 2024 with his song “Cosmic Friend”. Ultimately achieving eighth place overall, he received 76 points from the jury and 49 from the online vote.
