Ahead of her participation in Supernova 2026, Latvia’s selection for Eurovision 2026, Molly was able to speak with Paula. She is aiming to go to Vienna with her song “Dejot vien”.

In the interview, Molly and Paula discuss her audition on The Voice Lithuania and how she progressed since The Voice. Paula talks about how she was inspired to write “Dejot vien” and what made her want to join Supernova. We discuss what other songs she enjoys from the selection and look beyond Supernova. We don’t just talk about music but also her favourite Latvian delicacies.

Who is Paula?

Paula is from Latvia; however, she took part in Lithuania’s The Voice in 2023, where she auditioned in the blind auditions with the song “The Winner Takes It All.” In the same year, she also released her debut album, which included tracks such as “Ķīmiska atkarība”, “Atspulgi” and “Delulu”. She has 17,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel, where she posts vlogs along with her music-related content.

Latvia’s Eurovision journey

Latvia made their Eurovision debut in 2000, finishing 3rd with “My Star” by Brainstorm. They have performed at every contest since and managed to win in 2002. Marie N sang “I Wanna,” scoring 176 points and bringing Eurovision to Riga in the process. Latvia also managed to finish in the top 10 two more times, in 2005 and 2015.

Latvia’s most recent entry on the Eurovision stage was Tautumeitas, who performed “Bur man laimi”. Latvia successfully qualified from the second semi-final for the second year in a row. In the Grand Final, Tautumeitas finished in 13th place with 158 points. Of these points, 42 were from the public vote, and 116 were from the national juries.
