🇳🇴 Storm: “I want to show as many sides of me as a musician as possible”

Metal is an inherently young scene and it is rather represented at each year’s Eurovision. Ahead of his participation in Melodi Grand Prix of 2026, Norway’s selection for Eurovision 2026, Tetiana was able to speak with Storm. He is aiming to take Vienna by storm with his song “Lullaby”.

When it comes to alternative and metal stage in 2026, one can notice that the younger musicians from different parts of the world aim to produce high quality sound the and performance to confidently progress to the bigger stages (sometimes at a supersonic speed) even outside of the metalcore events.

In the interview, Storm (Leo Davadi Sundli) shares his creative vision for his Melodi Grand Prix 2026 entry, shouts out Magnus Børmark of Gåte and a roaster of rock stars and pop artists as his inspiration and explains how he wants to make music basing it on freedom for creation. Leo also shared his memorable performance story and a dramatic mosh pit experience. He also reveals the story of how “Lullaby” came out as his Melody Grand Prix song and imagines possible collaborations with the fellow competitors.

Who is Storm?

Storm is a young and experienced alternative music artist from Trondheim. His father is Sveinung Sundli, and his aunt is Gunnhild Sundli, both are known members of the the band Gåte, Norwegian representatives at Eurovision 2024. He and his band have already gained an international audience thought their appearances on many stages outside Norway, one of them being the legendary rock and metal festival Download in the UK. It is sensational that he was one of the youngest musicians (15 y.o) to have ever been invited to perform there alongside with the world famous Fall Out Boy and Sum 41. Leo and the band did not miss Tons of Rock in Oslo just a year before their Download set.

Storm’s captivating energy generated a lot of fan engagement leading him to nomination as 2025 “Breakthrough of the Year” by Norwegian Publishing Awards and GAFFA PRISEN 2026 in “Metal of the year”. Meanwhile, the Eurovision audience is waiting for him to perform “Lullaby” on the Melodi Grand Prix stage.

Norway’s Eurovision Journey

The Scandinavian nation made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960, with Nora Brockstedt and the song “Voi Voi”, which placed 4th. Since their debut, they have participated 62 times, and made the Grand Final 59 of these. In addition, Norway has won the competition three times – in 1985, 1995, and 2009.

Norway’s latest Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Kyle Alessandro with the song “Lighter”. After qualifying for the final, Norway placed 18th in the Grand Final, receiving 89 points, 22 of which from the jury and 67 from televoters.
