This morning, British broadcaster BBC has revealed that solo artist, experimental singer/songwriter Look Mum No Computer will represent the United Kingdom at Eurovision 2026.
An internal selection for the U.K.
Look Mum No Computer’s selection, follows the UK’s pattern of undertaking an internal selection for their representative.
The choice was done after extensive search led by UK Eurovision Project Director and Music Industry figure, David May, alongside Andrew Cartmell, Executive Producer, BBC Studios North and Head of Delegation for the UK.
Speaking about being selected, Look Mum No Computer finds it bonkers and hope that Eurovision is ready to get synthesized:
I find it completely bonkers to be jumping on this wonderful and wild journey. I have always been a massive Eurovision fan, and I love the magical joy it brings to millions of people every year, so getting to join that legacy and fly the flag for the UK is an absolute honour that I am taking very seriously. I’ve been working a long-time creating, writing, and producing my own visions from scratch, and documenting my process. I will be bringing every ounce of my creativity to my performances, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear and see what we’ve created. I hope Eurovision is ready to get synthesized!”
The UK’s Eurovision 2026 entry will be released in the upcoming weeks, and will receive its first radio play, along with the first exclusive interview, on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds
United Kingdom’s Eurovision Journey
The UK is one of the most successful countries in the Eurovision Song Contest. Debuting at the second edition of the Contest in 1957, the United Kingdom won the competition on five occasions. The most recent win for the UK was in 1997 with Katrina and the Waves, singing “Love Shine A Light”. The UK also holds the record for second-place finishes – currently at 16.
In 2025, Remember Monday represented the UK in Basel with his song “What the Hell Just Happened”. At the close of voting, the UK finished 19th in a field of 26, earning 88 points. All these points came from the jury.
