We have previously reported that the American Song Contest will premiere on the 21st of February. However, schedule changes mean that the contest will now premiere on the 21 of March, a month later than scheduled.

American Song Contest to conclude on the 9th of May

With the delay to the debut of the contest, it’s been revealed that the competition will conclude on the 9th of May; a day before the first semi-final of the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest due to take place.

For Eurovision fans who may be traveling to Turin for this year’s competition, this would mean that the final will be taking place in the early hours of the 10th of May, after the Jury Show of the first semi-final.

How will the “American Song Contest” work?

Keeping close to the Eurovision format, all 50 states, 5 U.S. territories, and the nation’s capital will be competing to win the title of “Best Original Song”. The competition will consist of three qualifying rounds, followed by a Semi-Final and a Grand Final where a state/territory will become the winner.

The American Song Contest is executive produced by Audrey Morrissey, Anders Lenhoff, Christer Bjรถrkman, Peter Settman, Ola Melzig, and Gregory Lipstone alongside Propagateโ€™s Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens. The competition is produced by  Propagate in association with Universal Television Alternative Studio, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Alongside its reveal, further information of the show such as the hosts, artists, and the host city, will be revealed later on.
