Florian Wieder on potential Eurovision 2023 stage design
Florian Wieder has confirmed in an interview with German newspaper DWDL that if he was asked by the BBC he would be up for designing the Eurovision 2023 stage. When asked about it in an interview he said the following:
I’ve never thrown my hat into the ring at the ESC. We were always asked, but not by the EBU but by the broadcaster of the host country. Sometimes there are tenders, sometimes someone is simply commissioned directly. If we are asked, we will definitely present a concept. That’s what we did in Italy. But whether a call comes from the UK, we will have to wait and see. The ESC is a mammoth event charged with a lot of meaning, so the awarding of contracts is sometimes to be understood from a patriotic point of view.
