🇸🇪 Loreen wins Melodifestivalen 2023 with “Tattoo”

As the 2023 national final season comes to a close, Sweden becomes the latest country to select their Eurovision artist. Following this year’s Melodifestivalen, Loreen has been chosen to represent Sweden on the Liverpool stage with “Tattoo”.

The final of Melodifestivalen 2023 took place at the Friends Arena in Stockholm. All six shows were hosted by Farah Abadi and Jesper Rönndahl.

The results of Melodifestivalen 2023 were decided by eight international juries from Australia. Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Latvia, Malta and Spain. This was weighted evenly with a public televote.

Following the semi-final allocation draw, Sweden will perform in the second half of the first semi-final on the 9th May.

Sweden’s Eurovision Journey

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015). In 2022, Sweden was represented by Cornelia Jakobs, who won the 61st edition of the competition and competed with the song “Hold Me Closer”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 4th with 438 points from the jury and televoters.
