TuralTuranX’s Eurovision Journey so far

For 2023, Azerbaijan has once again opted for an internal selection to select its representative for Liverpool. After recieving over 200 submissions for its search, it was announced that TuralTuran X will represent the country in Liverpool. Within the Azeri delegation, they will have Eurovision 2011 winner Eldar Gasimov, who is joining the team as the music producer.

In the lead-up to Eurovision 2023, TuralTuranX performed at two Eurovision pre-parties in Amsterdam and London.

Yesterday, TuralTuranX performed on the Eurovision stage for his first rehearsal. You can find out more about their first rehearsal, and our thought’s on that here.

Who are TuralTuranX?

TuralTuran X started their music journey at a young age, and was influenced by music by their father, where they ended up starting a band called โ€˜The Red Jungleโ€™. They both went on to have musical education, where they performed at school events. During the pandemic they went on to perform in the squares and parks of Baku.

TuralTuranXโ€™s Eurovision 2023 entry โ€œTell Me Moreโ€ was co-written by themselves, alongside their friends Nihad Aliyev and Tunar Taghiyev.

Azerbaijan’s Eurovision Journey

Azerbaijan is a powerhouse in Eurovision, first debuting in 2008 with the song “Day After Day” by Elnur & Samir, finishing 8th. The country has since gone on to achieve five top-5 performances, including one win in 2011. Azerbaijan has a near perfect qualification record, only failing to make the final in 2018, and is known for its impressive on-stage performances. In 2022, they were represented by Nadir Rustamli, who received 106 points and finished 16th with his song “Fade to Black”.
