🎶Eurovision music round-up: October 2023

The Winners

Agnetha Fältskog – “A+” (LP)

After releasing a single in August, Agnetha Fältskog presented her new album “A+” to the world this month. Well, new album might be exaggerated as in reality it is a reissue of her 2013 album “A”, with new versions of all existing songs. The new single from August serves as the album opener.

Lena – “Straitjacket”

Lena offers some slightly alternative, somewhat retro pop on new track “Straitjacket”. Lyrically, the track deals with being completely and utterly smitten by someone. Joining Lena on writing this track are Sophia Brenan (much of Mae Muller’s latest album), Hailey Collier (Kate Miller-Heidke, Betty Who) and the song’s producer Nikolay Mohr (ela., Ben Cristovao).

Júlio Resende featuring Salvador Sobral – “A Casa Dela Her House”

Serving up another helping of classy jazz in a collab this month. This time, he worked with Portuguese pianist and composer Júlio Resende for Júlio’s new album “Sons of Revolution”. Resende is the pioneer of a genre called Fado-Jazz, which fuses both into a unique yet recognizable sound. “A Casa Dela Her House” is the album closer on Resende’s new album, and is a great introduction to the genre for fans of Sobral who might not have heard something quite like this before.

Måns Zelmerlöw & The Agreement – “Nightcaps” (EP)

It’s been a while in the making, but Måns Zelmerlöw & The Agreement can finally go to bed and put on their “Nightcaps”. This new EP features the 3 previously released tracks “Andetag,” “Running Low,” and “Perfectly Damaged,” plus new tracks “History” and “Side Effects”. The two new tracks are two additional excellent slices of adult contemporary, just like the rest of the EP.

Duncan Laurence – “Beste Zangers 2023 (Duncan Laurence)” (LP)

With Beste Zangers coming once again to an end, we now have full albums of all participants. “I Do”, “Lovin’ Arms”, and “So in love” are joined by 5 more tracks, including a cover of the excellent BLØF track “Harder Dan ik Hebben Kan” (Harder Than I Can Handle).

Marija Šerifović – “Dolazi ljubav” (LP)

It’s been a while since Eurofans could listen to a new album by Marija Šerifović, but she is back now with “Dolazi ljubav” (Love is coming). The album contains a mix of Balkan ballads, alternative pop, retro disco beats, and more, and each track got a video to go along with it as well.

Offer Nissim x Netta – “Turn Up The Heat”

Another DJ collab this month comes virtue of Netta, who has officially released the live version of her song “Turn Up The Heat” with Offer Nissim.

Loreen – “Is It Love”
