It has been revealed by Albanian broadcaster RTSH that Kledi Kadiu will host the 62nd edition of Festivali I Këngës.
Who is Kledi Kadiu?
Italian-Albanian dancer and TV personality Kledi Kadiu’s career in television began 1996. He was a dancer in the show Quizzone in Italy. In 2022 he became a judge for the Albanian version of “Dancing With The Stars”.
What we know about Festivali I Këngës 62
The competition, scheduled for December 19th to 22nd, will select the country’s Eurovision 2024 representative. The artists that are taking part in this year’s Festivali I Këngës were revealed earlier this month as we previously reported. The running order for the first two nights has also been revealed
As with last year, the winner of Festivali i Këngës will be decided by the jury. At the time of writing, it is not known at this stage whether the winner will automatically be selected to represent Albania in Malmö.
Albania’s Eurovision Journey
In 2004, Albania made their debut into the Eurovision Song Contest with Anjeza Shahini with “Image of You”, which placed 7th in the final. Since their debut, Albania has participated 19 times, and made the final 10 times, with their best result in 2012 where Rona Nishliu placed 5th with “Suus”. In 2023, Albina Kelmendi and her family represented Albania at the Contest in Liverpool with their song “Duje”.
Performing in the second semi-final, the six-piece group qualified for the final. At the close of the voting in the final, Albania finished in 22nd place with a total of 76 points. Of these, 16 points came from the juries, whilst 59 came from the televote.
