🇱🇻 Sudden Lights release live album “Zaļais teātris”

Latvia’s 2023 representatives Sudden Lights have released a new album “Zaļais teātris”, the album version of their concert at Mežaparks Zaļais Teātris in September.

The Album

The album contains 23 tracks, including all songs that they performed at the show except a cover of “Pie Vienas Uguns” with Janis Aispurs from The Sound Poets. This includes their Eurovision entry “Aijā” in both its original form and as an acoustic. I was lucky enough to attend the concert in person and I think that the album does it justice. While it’s obviously not the same as being in person, I feel like the album is able to capture the magic of that Saturday evening in Mežaparks three months ago.

Sudden Lights in Eurovision

Sudden Lights’ first participation in the Eurovision world was at Supernova 2018, Latvia’s national selection. They finished in second place with their song “Just Fine”, behind Latvia’s 2018 representative Laura Rizzotto.

Five years later, the band returned to Supernova with the song “Aijā”. They won the selection competition and therefore the right to represent Latvia in Liverpool this year. They performed in the fourth spot in the first semi-final and unfortunately just missed out on a spot in the grand final, finishing in 11th place with 34 points from the televote.
