Junior Eurovision, ticket news, and of course tons of new music! Things are heating up this November, or at least the release schedules of many artists were running hot. In this edition of the round-up: a long-awaited album, Nicole Kidman, and not one but two songs named after legendary actresses. But no Christmas songs! They will be covered in a separate round-up posted sometime during the festive season.

The 2023 entries

Blanca Paloma – “Jaleo”

“Jaleo” (Fuss) is the title of Blanca Paloma’s second post-Eurovision single. The track sees Spain’s representative add some more electronic influences to her sound. In the description of the music video she describes it as going “[f]rom the cauldron of folklore to the after-dinner party of the 21st century”. It’s an entrancing and powerful track, and serves as the first single of an upcoming album.

Gustaph – “Already Know”

Everyone favourite daddy in a hat gives us a retro club banger with “Already Know”. It’s a slick piece of danceable perfection. Gustaph co-wrote the track with Moonlight Matters (best known for his remixes), while Gustaph had Willem Vanderstichele (“Because Of You,” Lower Than Atlantis, Kylie Minogue) once again join him in the production booth.

Vesna – “Muzika Slavica” (LP)

In May, Vesna released the EP “MUZIKA”. And it now has expanded into the full-length album “Muzika Slavica”. Besides the EP tracks, the album also includes EUrovision entry “My SIster’s Crown” and September release “Wolfrunners”. The album offers more of the great mix of genres and languages that we’ve come to expect from Vesna.

Lord Of The Lost – “Shock To The System”

Lord Of The Lost are releasing a cover album next month called “Weapons Of Mass Seduction”. The album will include songs from very different eras and artists, from Keane to Judas Priest, Sia to Ultravox, and much more, like their cover of Käärijä’s “Cha Cha Cha” and a Cutting Crew cover featuring fellow Unser Lied contestant Anica Russo. As a little preview they chose to release “Shock To The System” by Billy Idol, which they’ve given an amazing boost of energy.

Piqued Jacks – “The Gum”

Piqued Jacks serve some excellent new music with “The Gum”. It’s musically a little bit harder than their previous releases, while still leaning into that same sound. Lyrically, the track tackles how the music industry can quickly turn on you and demand too much, trying to spit you out like gum if you don’t comply.

Andrew Lambrou – “Take My Breath Away”

Andrew Lambrou’s new single is not a cover of the Berlin song, but a new track he co-wrote with Cameron Robertson (best known as a member of the band Glades). The pulsating beat powering the track is interspersed with a variety of effects and, of course, Andrew’s voice as he sings about his lover taking his breath away.

Alika – “Alika” (LP)

Alika’s debut album is a self-titled one. “Alika” consists of 13 tracks including Eurovision-ballad “Bridges” and pre-release single “Õde ütles”. Find out more about the album, including the track UMK-fave BESS was involved in, here:

Alessandra – “Heavy”

Alessandra has had a “Heavy” post-Eurovision schedule, as this is her third release since the contest. Find out more about her new track here:

Luke Black – “God’s Too Cool”

Luke Black keeps experimenting with his sound on new single “God’s Too Cool,” which sees him go for an even moody and dark vibe than we are used to see from him. Read more about the track and check it out here:

The Busker – “Bulletproof”

The Busker are also out with new music, with the Maltese trio releasing “Bulletproof”. Find out everything there is to know about it down below:

Mia Nicolai – “Stuck”

Mia Nicolai is trying to let someone go, but is feeling “Stuck”. This is her first release since June’s “Loop”, and you can read more about it here:

Sudden Lights – “Mūsu Mīlestība (Live)” and “Adata un diegs”

It’s two songs in one month for Latvian band Sudden Lights. First they released a live version of their cover of the classic song “Mūsu Mīlestība”, which they released the studio cut of in August. A few weeks later, they treated us to “Adata un diegs”. You can read all about both releases below:

  1. […] Gustaph and MEROL invite you to a “Vernissage” on their new track, well, “Vernissage”. Gustaph, MEROL, and Didier “the Producer” de Ruyter (MEROL, Dion Cooper, JOY!) have created a track together that is driven by a thumping beat as the singers switch between Dutch and French in this track that, as they also say in their own words, is a surprising but amazing collab.
