After announcing their participation late last year, Georgia has made further progress on its Eurovision 2024 participation, as it has revealed that Nutsa Buzaladze will represent them at this year’s contest in Malmรถ.
American Idol alumni to represent Georgia
Known for taking part (and winning) in numerous shows, Nutsa is no stranger when it comes to taking part in singing competition shows. Nutsa’s most recent participation in a singing competition was in American Idol where she managed to place in the Top 12, and even had the chance to have a duet with Kylie Minogue on the show.
For the past few years, Nutsa resides in both Los Angeles (where she works on her music) and Dubai (where she worked with Theater Dubai and performed at the 2020 Expo) but still calls Georgia home.
Speaking about her selection to be Georgia’s representative, Nutsa mentioned on social media that it is a dream come true:
Dreams come true! Itโs a huge responsibility and iโll do my best to proudly represent my beloved country at Eurovision in May
GPB is set to reveal further information about Nutsa’s Eurovision participation for Georgia in due course.
Georgia’s Eurovision Journey
Georgiaโs history in Eurovision has been mixed since they began competing in 2007, represented by Sopho Khalvashi with “Visionary Dream”. Their highest placements โ both coming in 9th โ were achieved in 2010 and 2011, with Sopho Niharadze performing Shine and Eldrine with One More Day. They have not qualified for the final since 2016, where they were represented by Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz with Midnight Gold.
For 2023, former Junior Eurovision winner Iru represented Georgia with her song “Echo”. At the close of voting, however, Georgia failed to qualify for the final for the sixth year in a row. Iru finished in 12th place in the semi-final, earning 33 points from the televote.
