Today, it was confirmed that Italy’s entry for Eurovision 2024, “La Noia”, has undergone a slight lyric change ahead of Eurovision 2024.
Changes to “La Noia”
After Angelina Mango won Sanremo 2024, she confirmed that she would represent Italy at this year’s Eurovision. However, with an original song length of 3 minutes and 9 seconds, she would need to make a change to fulfil the contest’s rule of a maximum of 3-minute songs. Consequently, the second chorus now only features the line “È la cumbia della noia” (It’s the cumbia of boredom) appears twice, rather than the original four times. The rest of the song remains unchanged.
Italy’s Eurovision History
Italy has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest since the very beginning. It has always been considered a powerhouse in the contest. The country has won the contest on three occasions in 1964, 1990 and 2021. Italy withdrew after 1997, returning again in 2011 with Raphael Gualazzi who sang ‘Madness Of Love’. Raphael placed second in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest after scoring 189 points.
Italy’s most recent entry in 2023 was “Due Vite” by Marco Mengoni. At the close of voting, Italy scored a total of 350 points in the Eurovision 2023 Grand Final, placing 4th. Of these, 176 points came from the juries, whilst the remaining 174 points came from the televote.
