Today the rehearsals for Eurovision 2024 continue in Malmö. Countries rehearsing on Day 4 include Latvia, San Marino, Georgia, Belgium, Estonia, Norway and The Netherlands. The fifth to rehearse today is Estonia’s 5MIINUST and Puuluup.
5MIINUST and Puuluup’s first rehearsal
The next to take to the Eurovision 2024 stage at Malmö Arena in Malmö was Estonia’s 5MIINUST and Puuluup. 5MIINUST and Puuluup will be competing in this year’s competition with their entry “nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi” following on from winning national selection Eesti Laul.
Following 5MIINUST and Puuluup’s first rehearsal a clip of what went on was posted on the official TikTok account of the Eurovision Song Contest. The clip showed them before and after they took to the Eurovision stage for the first time, as well as giving us some insight into how well their first rehearsal went.
What did we learn about 5MIINUST and Puuluup’s staging?

According to the Eurovision live-blog, the band retain some elements of their Eesti Laul performance, as the bands dress up in their iconic black suits. Puuluup walk around the stage playing their well-known talharpas, whilst 5MIINUST continue to ramp up the energy with audience participation. The LED cubes are brought down for much of the performance, made up of smaller cubes that change colour during the course of the song. This is also included in the LED screen at the back of the stage.
What we thought of 5MIINUST and Puuluup’s first rehearsal
After Estonia’s first rehearsal, Tim gave his initial thoughts on the snippet that we saw.

Who are 5MIINUST and Puuluup
5Miinust are a hip-hop group formed Võsu in 2015, consisting of members Kristjan Jakobson, known as Kohver (Suitcase), Mihkel Tamm or Päevakoer (Barking Dog), Karl “Korea” Kivastik and Priit “Lancelot” Tomson. The group quickly rose to being one of the biggest in Estonia, with 6 Estonian number 1 singles to their name, including a collaboration with Pluuto and Nublu. The group have won Estonian artist of the year on two occasions.
They’re joined on stage by Puuluup, a folk duo made up of Ramo “Pastacas” Teder and Marko Veisson. Their main instruments are Talharpa and Loopers, and self describe their style as “neozombie postal folk”.
The two combined to produce their Eesti Laul, then Eurovision, entry (Nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi, which is (unsurprisingly) the longest Eurovision song title. The song was inspired by a comment made by Marko Veisson during a road trip about Korea’s drugs, claiming he did not know anything about them.
Estonia’s Eurovision Journey
Estonia has appeared at almost every Eurovision since their debut in 1994. They have won the contest once with Tanel Padar, Dave Benton and 2XL in 2001, singing Everybody. Other notable Estonian entrants include 3rd placer Sahlene with Runaway in 2002 and Ines with Once In A Lifetime in 2000, who placed 4th. More recently, their highest-placing entries have been Urban Symphony with Rändajad in 2009 and Ott Lepland with Kuula in 2012, both of which finished in 6th place.
In 2023, Estonia elected to send Alika through Eesti Laul to the Contest with “Bridges”. She successfully qualified for the final and finshed in 8th place with 168 points. Alika finished with 146 points from the juries, and an additional 22 points from the televote
