Following on from the release of “Luchtballon”, Joost has released another single, this time it is entitled “The Bird Song”. This single features a new B-Side which is entitled “Fußball”. The B-Side is a collaboration with Apson and MC Águia Pantera.
About “The Bird Song”
This has quite similar sounds to “Europapa”, in terms of the intensity of the rap verses. A contrast difference however is in the choruses these are a lot more mellow than that of “Europapa”. This similarly to “Luchtballon” has elements of a 90’s dance/trance throwback. There are mentions of Eurovision within this track, that is because Joost announced on social media that he submitted this song to AVROTROS as well as “Europapa”.

Joost’s Eurovision Journey
Following a social media campaign after he expressed his active interest, Dutch broadcaster AVTROTROS confirmed Joost as The Netherlands’ representative for Eurovision 2024 in December 2023. His song, Europapa, which is dedicated to his late father, was released on February 29 with a premiere on a special editon of De Avondshow.
While Joost was ultimately disqualified at Eurovision in Malmö, he would have made it to the final, placing second in his semifinal with 182 points.
