Familiar faces as interval acts

DR has announced that DMGP legend Birthe Kjær and reigning champion SABA will be performing at this year’s event on March 1.

Speaking about performing, Birthe mentions about being honoured to perform:

I am very honored to be allowed to participate again this year. Dansk Melodi Grand Prix has meant a lot to me throughout the 80s, and my winning song, ‘Vi maler byen rød’ from 1989, is still one that young people stand and shout when we play at festivals, so it really meant a lot to me to be in the competition in the 80s.

Meanwile reigning champion SABA comments about ending her Eurovision journey as she passes on the trophy to the next Danish Eurovision representative:

I thought it would be a good wrinkle on the whole thing to be allowed to perform at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix this year. Being allowed to pass on the prize and the trophy and performing is a good way to end the journey that the last year has been. It’s something I do for myself. I’m very happy to be allowed to be part of the evening. It also feels very liberating in some way,
