As the songs competing for this year’s competition in Basel continue to be selected, the team at That Eurovision Site will react to the entries that will be participating at Eurovision 2025. The next entry we will react to is Poland, which will be competing in this year’s competition with “Gaja” by Justyna Steczkowska.
Our thoughts on “GAJA”
In this series, we will provide our opinions via two methods. One of our team members will be reacting on video, which you can see below, whilst up to three members will give their written opinion on the entry. Rory will be on the main seat and will be showing his reaction to “GAJA”
What did the other team members think of “GAJA”?
Euan: This is completely messy, utter chaos, and works so damn well. There are definitely issues with the maximalist approaches to the staging, and how that’s affecting Justyna’s vocals at points, but even still it manages to be an intense spectacle. Justyna’s presence dominates the stage so well. ‘Gaja’ really sets itself out as being one of the best of the energetic songs this year and it’s presence in the top ten of the televote is pretty much guaranteed.
Molly: This song is strong and shows the experience of Justyna and how she was able to combine elements of her 2024 song was a very smart part of the song to me. She was confident on the stage and showed amazing stage presence. How she was able to move around while singing showed how much talent she was able to portray however this could also backfire on her when it comes to her vocals. Hopefully in Eurovision, they will be able to find a balance between her vocals and the stunts on stage.
Tim: I have to be honest, I did not get the Justyna hype last year, and it wasn’t until I saw the live performance at the selection that I was like Rory and I could not believe how much this woman has put in to her performance, if I tried to recreate those dance moves, I would be at the hospital but Justyna just makes it look like effortless. There would be something wrong in the world if Poland does not qualify for the final.

Poland’s Eurovision Journey
In 1994, Poland made their debut at the Eurovision Song Contest represented by Edyta Górniak with the song “To nie ja!” and placed 2nd, Poland’s best result at the contest to date. Since then, Poland has participated 26 times, qualifying for the Grand Final 16 times.
Poland selected Luna and “The Tower” to represent them at Eurovision 2024. She received 35 points in the televote, placing twelfth in the first semifinal.
