Before taking to the stage at Amsterdam’s Eurovision in Concert, Rory spoke with Ziferblat for an interview. Ziferblat is representing Ukraine at Eurovision 2025 with their entry “Bird of Pray”

Rory and Ziferblat talked about the hopeful lyrics of their song “Bird of Pray”, their drive to raise funds for demining in Ukraine, and their interactions with other Eurovision 2025 artists.
Who are Ziferblat?
Ziferblat are a three piece band from Ukraine who rose to fame in 2019 after appearing on the Ukrainian version of X-Factor. They released their debut album Peretvorennya (Transformation) in 2023. After finishing second with “Place I Call Home” in Vidbir 2024, they returned to Vidbir the following year with the song “Bird of Pray” – this time winning the selection.
Ziferblat will be participating at Eurovision 2025 with “Bird of Pray”, which was written by band members Daniel Leshchynskyi, Fedir Khodakov, and Valentyn Leshchynskyi.
Ukraine’s Eurovision Journey
Ukraine is one of the most successful countries to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. The country has scored nine top-five placements, with an extra four top-ten finishes. Ukraine won the Contest three times – in 2004, 2016 and 2022 respectively. Ukraine made history for being the first ex-Soviet country to win the Contest more than once.
In 2024 alyona alyona and Jerry Heil represented Ukraine in Malmö with their song “Teresa and Maria”. The duo finished in 3rd place, scoring 453 points – of which 146 points came from the jury, whilst the remaining 307 points came from the televote.
