๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ช Tbilisi confirmed to host Junior Eurovision 2025

Tbilisi - the host city for Junior Eurovision 2025.

The EBU has confirmed that Tbilisi will be the host city for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The city was confirmed during rehearsals for the adult Contest in Basel.

Tbilisi to reprise hosting Contest

Tbilisi was chosen to host the Contest following Andria Putkaradze’s victory in the 2024 Contest in Madrid. Following their win, it was assumed that Georgia would likely host this year’s competition. However, unlike Eurovision itself – the winning country is not guaranteed to host the Contest the following year.

However, it was announced during rehearsals for Eurovision in Basel that Georgia would host the competition. The final will take place in the Olympic Palace in the city on December 13th. Speaking on the decision to award the competition to Tbilisi, Eurovision’s Director Martin Green said:

We canโ€™t wait to return to Georgia, a nation thatโ€™s profoundly passionate about the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. GPBโ€™s proven ability to deliver outstanding shows gives us every confidence that this will be an exceptional edition that creates cherished memories for young participants and audiences worldwide.

Natia Mshvenieradze, Georgian Head of Delegation, also celebrated the news, adding:

The 2017 edition was an unforgettable journey. Eight years on, and we aim to surpass that success by creating an even more spectacular event that will resonate for years to come.

This is the second time that Georgia is hosting the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. In 2017, Tbilisi played host the competition for the first time after Mariam Mamadashvili’s “Mzeo” won the Contest in 2016.

Georgia’s Junior Eurovision history

Georgia is the most successful country to take part in Junior Eurovision, currently with four wins under their belt. The country joined the Junior Eurovision family in 2007 with Mariam Romelashvili sing “Odelia Ranuni”, finishing in 4th place. Georgia would go on to win the competition the following year, with Bzikebi’s “Bzz…”. Georgia would also win the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 and 2016 respectively. They hosted the Contest in Tbilisi in 2017.

In 2024, Georgia added their record fourth win, with Andria Putkaradze and his song “To my Mom” sweeping the jury vote and receiving douze points from twelve countries. His jury total was 180, and his 59 points from the televote made his overall total 239 points.
