Commitment to a Sammarinese national final

San Marino’s government has reaffirmed its commitment to a national final for Eurovision. It comes following Gabry Ponte’s qualification for the final.

Commitment to tourism through Eurovision

Gabry Ponte’s qualification served as the fourth time San Marino made it into the final. He was selected to represent San Marino thanks to the San Marino Song Contest. Formerly named Una Voce per San Marino, the country last appeared at a Eurovision grand final in 2021. As a result, this is the first time that a Sammarinese act has qualified using a national final.

Now, the country has reaffirmed its commitment to holding a national final for Eurovision to help improve its results. Speaking to RTV San Marino, Tourism Minister Federico Pedini Amati, said the national final will help to boost its tourism industry. He explained:

The brilliant result achieved by Gabry Ponte at Eurovision confirms, first of all, the extraordinary value of an artist who for decades has been among the most influential and appreciated in his genre worldwide.

But this success is also the fruit of a synergic commitment and exceptional teamwork, carried out with passion and professionalism starting from the Director-General of RTV San Marino, Roberto Sergio and his editorial staff, from Gabry Ponte’s team, and from our Secretariat of State for Tourism.

The historic access to the final celebrates talent and fully validates the artistic choices made in the context of the San Marino Song Contest. A project, the latter, in which, in light of what happened and the image return obtained, we intend to continue investing with conviction.

San Marino’s Eurovision journey

As one of the smallest countries in Europe, San Marino made its debut in the competition in 2008 with Miodio and the song โ€œCompliceโ€. Since then they have participated in the competition 14 times, qualifying for the grand final in three. Their best result was in 2019, with Serhat and โ€œSay Na Na Naโ€.

Spanish band Megara represented San Marino in 2024 with the song “11:11”. They failed to qualify from the second semifinal, placing fourteenth and receiving sixteen points from the televote.
