RTVE has confirmed that a total of 270 applications have been submitted to represent Spain at the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025, which will take place on the 13th of December in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Online applications closed

The online casting period ran from May 27th to June 30th, and was open to young performers aged 9 to 14. Participants were required to send in two performance videos via an online form – one of their choice and one from a past Eurovision or Junior Eurovision entry.

Now that this phase is over, RTVE will begin selecting finalists for the in-person auditions, which will take place in Madrid in mid-July at the broadcaster’s Prado del Rey studios. The chosen representative will succeed Chloe DelaRosa, who competed in 2024.

How the selection process works

According to the official selection rules published by RTVE, the next step involves evaluating the online applications and inviting selected candidates to an on-site casting round.

Once the artist is chosen, RTVE will oversee the search for a suitable song, with the broadcaster maintaining control over the creative direction and staging. Young talents are not required to submit an original track – just demonstrate their vocal and interpretive skills.

Spain’s participation in Junior Eurovision 2025 was confirmed in May this year, as the country prepares to take part in the contest’s 23rd edition in Tbilisi.

Spain’s Junior Eurovision journey

Spain has taken part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest a total of 9 times, with their first participation coming in the first edition of the Contest in 2003. In the initial Contest, Spain was represented by Sergio singing “Desde el cielo”, and at the close of voting Spain finished in second place, earning 125 points. Spain would go on to win the next edition of the show with María Isabel’s “Antes Muerte Que Sencilla”, finishing with 171 points.

Spain hosted the 2024 contest after 2023 winner France turned down hosting rights. Their hometown girl was Chloe DelaRosa, who sang “Como La Lola”; she received 80 points from the jury and 64 from the online vote, combining for a total score of 144 points and sixth place.
