Her new era continues. Six months after she participated in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, Ericka Jane continues to release new music, with her latest effort, “Sidestik” (Side Stitch), being her second release since participating in the selection.
Ericka Jane looks into identity and pays homage to her mother
In the lead-up to the release, Ericka detailed what the song is about, detailing her mother’s sacrifice when she moved to Denmark from the Philippines so she could have a better life:
She ran before me.
Through a world she didn’t know.
My mother was 21 when she left the Philipines and migrated to Denmark. She chose the unknown, so that I got the opportunity to call Denmark my known. A known, that gave me the ability to dream, and the courage to follow them.
I have spend many years trying to find out who I am – both as a human and as an artist – and maybe the answer has always been closer than I thought. Because I am not only what I have created in the known. I’m also everything my mother fought for when she chose the unknown.
All the steps she took. All the dreams she let go. All the love she carried with me. That is what my new single “Sidestik (Side stitch)” is about. About my mother’s side stitch. What she experienced when she ran towards a new life- so I could feel my own. And now I look forward to feel them with you all. The side stitches, when we run hand in hand with our inner child towards each of our goals. Together.
In the lead-up to the release of the song, Ericka teased the song on social media, which featured clips, predominantly of her mother, with Ericka making an appearance.

Ericka Jane’s Dansk Melodi Grand Prix Journey
In 2026, Ericka Jane participated in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, which is Denmark’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. In the show, Ericka reached the Superfinal stage of the competition, where she placed 2nd overall in the selection.
