As time progresses, more and more countries reveal if whether or not they will be participating in the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Another country that would not be present for this year’s competition is Greece; which confirmed to Eurofestivales that they will not be participating in this year’s competition.
ERT has not given any reason, as to why they will not be participating in this year’s competition. In 2020, ERT was in favour of returning. However, they ended up not participating due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Greece’s non-participation will see them miss the competition for the 13th year in a row. Greece has not participated since 2008 when the contest took place in Lemesos.
What we currently know about the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest
After winning the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2020, it wasn’t long until it was revealed that the winning host nation; France, will be hosting the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. In May 2021, it was revealed that Paris will be hosting this year’s competition in La Seine Musicale on December 19.

- Georgia
- Germany
- Ireland
- The Netherlands
- Poland
- Portugal
- Russia
- Ukraine
Greece’s Junior Eurovision Journey
As one of the countries that were present in the inaugural edition of the competition, Greece debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 with Nicolas Ganopoulos and the song “Fili gia panta” (Φίλοι για πάντα), which placed 8th. Overall, Greece has participated in the competition a total of six times. Their recent participation was in 2008 with Niki Yiannouchu and the song “Kapoia nychta” (Κάποια νύχτα) which placed 14th.
