🇵🇱 Poland: TVP Announces National Final for Eurovision 2022

Another date for the diaries! Polish broadcaster TVP has announced that they will hold a national final on February 19th to select their representative for Eurovision 2022.

Moreover, this news comes after TVP originally announced that they would reveal an internally selected artist on January 15th.

Who Will Be in Poland’s National Final?

Along with a date for their national final, TVP also revealed the ten participating artists and song titles on their Facebook page. TVP also confirmed that the winner will be determined by a mix of jury and public votes.

The participating artists and songs, which will be released at a later date, are:

  • Ania Byrcyn – “Where?”
  • Daria – “Paranoia”
  • Emilia D ębbska (Mila) – “All I Need”
  • Karolina Lizer – “Clean Water”
  • Karolina Stanisławczyk & Chika Toro – “Move”
  • Kuba Szmaikowski – “Lovesick”
  • Lidia Kopania – “Why Does It Hurt”
  • Ochman – “River”
  • The Sisters of Glory – “Road Signs”
  • Unmute – “Louder than Decibels”

Most notably, Lidia Kopanaia, who represented Poland at Eurovision in 2009 with “I Don’t Wanna Leave” will make another attempt to compete in the contest. Lidia originally placed 12th in her semi-final with 43 points.

Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest

In 1994, Poland made their debut at the Eurovision Song Contest, when Edyta Górniak represented them with the song “To nie ja!”, She placed second, which has subsequently remained Poland’s best result to date. Poland has participated 23 times since and reached the Grand Final on 14 occasions. Michal Szpak’s 2016 entry “Colour of Your Life” earned one of Poland’s best results in recent years, and Szpak memorably placed 3rd in the televote and 8th overall.

Meanwhile, RAFAŁ represented Poland at Eurovision 2021 with “The Ride”; however, he did not qualify for the grand final, placing 14th in his semi-final with 35 points from the jury and televoters.
