After confirming their participation for this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Ukraine has started its search for Zlata Dziunka’s successor as they open the submissions for its Junior Eurovision 2023 selection.
Submissions open until July 9
Those who are interested in participating in the Ukrainian selection, can do so by submitting a form on junior.eurovision.ua, and have until the 9th of July to submit their application. Suspline was due to open the selection earlier on. However, it was postponed due to a cyber attack on Suspline.
Those interested in submitting an entry should submit two live video performances, which should be a cover of a popular song and an original song (if available) or two covers in different styles. If an applicant makes it to the final and they do not have an original song, Suspilne will provide them with a song.
In addition to this, Suspilne has also confirmed that it will be working with singer-songwriter Svitlana Tarabarova, who will be the music producer for Ukraine’s participation in the contest this year. Svitlana had the following to say on their appointment:
Many of our children have lived through the horrors of occupation, evacuation, and shelling, so giving them a sense of normal life and the opportunity to show their talents is essential. My aim is to heal children’s souls through music. It is an honor for me to become a music producer of the Junior Eurovision National Selection at Suspilne Ukraine this year. I will do my best to make sure that all talents are heard and the best one represents our country in France
After the submissions have been evaluated, a list of 10 participants, to be revealed by the 13th of July, with auditions to be held after this date. Professional advice would then be given to the music producer at the auditions, with an expert panel being form, which includes three music industry representatives.
