Today, the EBU has revealed that Pernilla Månsson Colt and Farah Abadi will host the semi-final allocation draw, scheduled for Tuesday the 30th of January 2024 at 19:00 CET.
About the allocation draw
As has been previously revealed, the allocation draw will take place on Tuesday the 30th of January. It will decide two important things for Eurovision 2024:
- Which countries compete in which semi-final, and which half they will compete in
- Which semi-final the ‘Big 5’ (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom) and host country (Sweden) will vote in and have their performances broadcast
Depending on the participation of Romania, there will either be two semi-finals of 16 countries or one with 15 and one with 16.
The Journey to Eurovision 2024
The Nordic country will be hosting the 68th edition of the competition following Loreen’s historic win at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool. One month after the 2023 contest taking place SVT revealed the first names of the Core Team that will be working on the competition, with the team completed in September.
In July 2023, after a shortlist of four cities, it was announced that Malmö will host Eurovision 2024, with the city spending up to €2.5 Million for the contest, as well as having 600 volunteers working for the show.
As for the upcoming contest, there will be 37 countries participating. Luxembourg will be returning, whilst Romania’s participation is still uncertain. ‘United By Music’ has been announced as the permanent slogan for the contest, with the upcoming contest having ‘The Eurovision Lights’ as the theme art, with the stage, which is undertaken by Flor
