It’s been over a month since Nemo won Eurovision, with their song “The Code”. However, in the last few days Nemo has returned to their home city Biel/Bienne for their homecoming. This is the first time Nemo has been home since their Eurovision win back in early May.
Nemo returns home
Nemo’s homecoming celebration took place on Monday June 17th at Burgplatz in Biel/Bienne. During the homecoming, Nemo took part in a Q&A. Nemo was also presented with several awards during this celebration. There awards included being honoured by the President of the grand council of Bern Dominique Bühler and the Mayor of Biel/Bienne Erich Fehr.
Nemo was also honoured by the Biel Music School, as this is where they studied music. Nemo then went on to take photos and meet members of the public. Upon coming home Nemo made the following comments to the crowd
“I’m very happy. This is a beautiful and special moment for me. I grew up in the old town, not far from here. I walked past here every day on the way to school. Being able to experience this here now is super special,”

Switzerland’s Eurovision Journey
Switzerland both hosted and debuted in the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. Their first participation was successful, as they won with Lys Assia’s “Refrain”. Since then, they have participated on 63 occasions, making the Grand Final 52 times.
Switzerland’s most recent participation saw them being represented by Nemo with their song “The Code”. Performing in the second semi-final, they qualified for the Grand Final for a fifth consecutive participation. At the end of voting in the final, it was revealed Switzerland had won the Contest. Nemo scored 365 points with the national juries, as well as 226 points with the televote. The overall winning score for “The Code” was 591 points. This win marks Switzerland’s third win in the contest following on from Lys Assia in 1956 and Celine Dion in 1988.
