Ahead of the 2024 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held this year in Madrid, Armenia has opened submissions for Junior Eurovision hopefuls. Applications will close on July 28th.

Armenia holds public auditions

The submission period opened on July 9th. Interested young singers who will be between 9 and 12 years old on the date of the contest–November 16th, 2024–should submit cover versions of two songs. Auditionees will be judged by a professional jury of Armenian and international experts, and a second round of auditions will be held sometime between July 29th and August 11th, 2024. Armenian citizens, as well as anyone who has been an Armenian resident for the past two or more years, may apply.

Armenia conducted a similar selection process in 2023, ultimately announcing their representative and song on October 25th.

Armenia’s Junior Eurovision journey

Armenia is one of the most successful countries in Junior Eurovision. The Caucasian powerhouse first took part in 2007 and finished in second place, with “Erazanq” performed by Arevik. Since then, Armenia has scored eleven top-five results – including two wins, in 2010 and 2021. Vladimir Arzumunyan won the 2010 contest in Minsk with his song “Mama”, and Maléna won in Paris eleven years later with her song “Qami, Qami”.

In 2023, Yan Girls represented Armenia with the song “Do it my way”. At the close of voting in Nice, Yan Girls placed third after earning 180 points, 116 from the national juries and 64 points from the online voting.
